Amelia Island's Premier Charter Fishing Boat

Professionalism. Comfort. Experience. And Lots of Fish.

Sure, Amelia Island is a serene getaway with a rich history, luxurious resorts, stunning golf courses, and pristine beaches. But most importantly — at least in our book — it's a diverse, exciting, and productive year-round fishery. We'd even go so far as to say that no visit here is truly complete without bending a rod.

To find out for yourself, we invite you to join us aboard the spacious and meticulously maintained Game Plan, Amelia Island's five star charter boat. We offer fishing trips ranging from family-friendly, half-day outings for redfish and black drum to Gulf Stream adventures targeting mahi mahi, wahoo, billfish and tuna.

With years of professional fishing experience, we pride ourselves not only on keeping guests' rods bent but also on providing the kind of experience they want — whether that means hardcore fishing, family fun, or anything in between.

We strive for professionalism from the moment you dial our phone number to the moment you walk back to your vehicle with your cleaned and bagged fillets. That means maintaining a safe and well-equipped boat with plenty of comfortable seating. That means providing top-of-the-line gear, all bait and tackle, and plenty of cold storage for your catch. And that means customizing departure times and trip durations to meet your needs. Give us a call and let's go fishing!

Inshore, Bottom, Offshore, and Gulf Stream Fishing

Trip Types

Inshore, Bottom, Offshore, and Gulf Stream Fishing

Trip Types

From Family Fun to Offshore Adventure

Island Charters Unlimited offers a wide variety of fishing trips. If you're not sure what's best for you, please feel free to send us an email or give us a call.

Jetties and Rivers — 4 Hours

Our popular half-day inshore trips target redfish, black drum, whiting, sharks and rays. Rarely traveling more than 5 miles each way, the boat stays in relatively protected waters, making these trips ideal for beginners and those not comfortable in rougher water. That's not to say these aren't exciting outings, though. Our redfish and drum can top 60 lbs. and put up incredible fights. The smaller specimens are also excellent table fare. Jetty and river trips last about 4 hours, are for up to 6 guests, and typically depart at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Custom departures can be arranged if schedule permits.

Nearshore Reefs and Wrecks — 6 hours

Our 6-hour trips venture beyond the jetties to fish the area's many natural reefs, man made structure, and shipwrecks for a variety of species including black seabass, kingfish, cobia, snapper, grouper, barracuda, jack crevalle, and sharks. Nearshore reef and wreck trips last about 6 hours and are for up to 6 guests. We typically leave the dock around 8 a.m., but we can adjust departure times.

Offshore Reefs, Wrecks, and Ledges — All day (8-10 hours)

These longer trips allow us to reach deeper structure spots 10 to 40 miles offshore that hold more exciting species and see less fishing pressure. In addition to many of the same species we catch on the shallower wrecks and reefs, we regularly find grouper, vermillion snapper (aka bee-liners), triggerfish, and big red snapper (currently closed). It's also not uncommon to catch kingfish, wahoo, sailfish, blackfin tuna, and mahi mahi while trolling between bottom-fishing spots. Lasting about 10 hours, these trips are for up to 6 guests and typically depart in the early morning.

Gulf Stream

Venturing as far as 75 miles offshore to the warm blue waters of the Gulf Stream, these trips target billfish, wahoo, mahi mahi, and blackfin tuna. Gulf Stream trips are for up to 6 guests and leave the dock before dawn.

Scenic and Sunset Cruise — 2 Hours

When we're not fishing, we offer private, customized scenic cruises to Fort Clinch and Cumberland Island. In addition to historic sites, you're likely to see dolphins, marine turtles, the island's famous wild horses, and other wildlife including deer, wild turkeys, foxes and more. You're welcome to bring your own food, wine, beer, and music to play on the boat's sound system. Scenic cruises last about 2 hours and cost $400 for up to 6 guests. We highly recommend scheduling your cruise for sunset, but we're happy to go at other times.

The Boat, the Crew, and What You Need to Know

We believe our boat, our captain, and our professionalism and attention to detail make Island Charters Unlimited the premier choice among Amelia Island fishing charters.

The Boat

The Game Plan is a 31open Contender. That is built for fishing in all conditions. With exceptional stability when anchored or trolling.  We also carry several marine beanbags for lounging on deck. The console provides privacy for facilities. For fishing and safety, The Game Plan is outfitted with state-of-the-art Simrad electronics and carries a full complement of top-shelf tackle, including Shimano Tiagra trolling reels and Penn inshore spinning gear.

What We Provide

Island Charters Unlimited provides all tackle and bait, plus all appropriate licenses. We also provide ample bottled water and coolers with ice for whatever drinks and food you wish to bring.

What to Bring

Please bring your own food and anything you want to drink besides water. We recommend packing food that needs to stay cold in zippered bags.

Also bring personal items, including sunscreen, extra clothing, medications, sunglasses, camera, etc. We strongly recommend that you wear closed-toed shoes for fishing.

Tipping

Our captain is typically assisted by a mate whose primary job is to make your trip safe, enjoyable, and productive. Mates work for tips, and the industry standard, just like in a restaurant, is 15 to 20% of the charter cost. We encourage you to consider tipping your mate generously for exceptional service.
